Child Development Checks
Some of our doctors have additional specific qualifications to carry out developmental checks on babies at approximately eight weeks of age. Thereafter, these checks are carried out by a health visitor, who will refer any problems to us.
Children’s Vaccinations and Immunisations
These routine procedures are usually carried out on Wednesday morning. A health visitor is normally available at this time for advice and to arrange for baby to be weighed.
This test makes it possible to detect and treat the early stages of abnormalities of the cervix before they have a chance to become apparent to you. The test is quick, simple and painless and may be performed by the nurse. Please ask if you require further information.
Our nurses will advise on the management, lifestyle and diet of all diabetics, arranging blood tests and annual reviews. Appointments are also available with a diabetic dietician.
All the doctors are happy to give advice on family planning.
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) Clinic
The nurse/healthcare assistant in this clinic will check your blood pressure and give lifestyle advice as necessary to help in the detection and management of this widespread condition.
Several partners perform minor surgery for a variety of conditions. Some examples of the procedures carried out are: cryotherapy, injection of tennis elbows, aspiration of cysts, removal of sebaceous cysts and skin tags and joint injections.
A set number of fasting and non-fasting blood test appointments are available each morning.
Respiratory Medicine Clinic
For patients of all ages who have asthma or respiratory disease. The nurse/healthcare assistant will advise on inhaler technique, preventing problems and medication.
The surgery runs smoking cessation and weight management clinics on Thursdays and Fridays with our one-to-one advisor Jenny. If you are interested in giving up please contact the surgery to make an appointment.

The nurses are happy to give advice, by appointment, on vaccination and other health requirements for foreign travel. Following appropriate assessment vaccinations can be scheduled, for some of which there may be a charge. Please note that for some courses of treatment to be effective they need to be started up to 6 weeks before travel.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travel Health Questionnaire
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
Enhanced services are optional for GP practices and are essential or additional services delivered to a specified standard; or more specialised services not provided through essential or additional services.
